AES El Salvador undertook the Meanguera del Golfo Renewable Energy Project as part of its commitment to move towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy generation. Meanguera del Golfo is a municipality located on the east coast of El Salvador that relied heavily on fossil fuel-based electricity generation, resulting in high greenhouse gas emissions and significant environmental impact.
