2002
Spin-Off
GPTech was born as a Spin-Off of the University of Seville, which offered control systems that improve the performance and integration of wind energy in electrical systems. At the same time, it developed its solutions based on power electronics for the integration of small PV plants, with powers of less than 500 kW.
2009
Growth and Internationalization
This year represents a turning point for the company, with the commercialization and installation of more than 1 GW of one of the most innovative products of the moment: GPCOM-STATCOM, efficiently solving the requirements for voltage dips and reactive control for the wind industry.
That same year began its internacionalización, seeking to be the first in other reference markets, supplying central inverters at utility-scale for the first large photovoltaic plant in Italy, 75MW.
Subsequently, it became the first firm to supply grid connection equipment for the first “utility-scale” photovoltaic plants in Chile, Peru and Argentina.
2014
Reference in Innovation and New Markets
In 2010, after a new strategic approach, new solutions to integrate storage systems are launched, once again being a pioneer in the development of these in the energy market.
The first projects with this new approach culminated in 2014 with the integration of the first plants with storage systems at utility-scale in Puerto Rico: Salinas 5.4MW/1.26 MWh and Oriana 21.8MW/4.2 MWh.
2018
Leaders in Storage Systems Integration
On this path of delving into storage solutions, we developed DC coupling technology, implementing it in two large projects on the island of Hawaii: Lawai 28 MW/116 MWh and Kehaha 21 MW/87 MWh; thus becoming the reference company in this type of applications.
2019
eks Energy was born to promote the Sustainable use of Energy
GPTech, advancing in its goal of helping to achieve the goal of zero net balance in polluting emissions by the year 2050, is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7). To do this, it creates a company that inherits all his experience and kwnowledge in order to support a long-term strategy that helps humanity comply with SDG 7. eks Energy is born!
2021
Largest storage project in LATAM
eks Energy, establishing itself as a provider of solutions for storage integration, supplies grid connection equipment for large projects such as Andes Solar IIb, with 116 MW and 580 MWh, becoming the largest storage project in Latin America at the moment.
2022
Integration in POWIN
We are placed in the TOP 10 of providers of power electronics solutions for battery integration (Source: S&P Global 2022).
