Today Hitachi Energy announced that Alberto Prieto is appointed as the new CEO of eks Energy, effective February 1, 2024. Alberto joins eks Energy from the Hitachi Energy Transformers Business Unit, where he currently holds the role of Global Portfolio Manager. Alberto succeeds Javier Landero, who will assume new responsibilities as Chief Strategist for eks Energy, positioning the company within Hitachi Energy for its next phase of intensive growth.
Alberto brings more than 25 years of experience and has held leadership roles in operations, manufacturing, and technical management, both in Spain and the United States. Upon assuming the new role, he will be based in Seville, the headquarters location of eks Energy. Alberto also holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Seville.
“Both eks Energy and Hitachi Energy are powerful technology providers in the energy transition. I am delighted and committed to forge a clear path for Hitachi Energy and eks Energy, bringing our portfolios together in the strongest way possible to deliver the right solutions and services for our customers,” said Prieto. “This starts with identifying the optimal combinations of eks Energy’s power electronics products with Hitachi Energy’s automation, software and system integration offerings.”
Hitachi Energy, a global technology leader that is advancing a sustainable energy future for all, announced on October 24, 2023 that it has acquired a controlling stake of eks Energy, a leading supplier of power electronics and energy management solutions for storage and renewables integration, based in Seville, Spain, from Powin LLC (Powin), a top global energy storage system provider. The investment also marks the establishment of a strategic partnership with Powin, who maintains a significant ownership stake in eks Energy.
